WATCH: This Is Why Thor Wasn’t in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR (Comic Con Video)

This past July nearly 7000 fans crammed into the Hall H conference room at San Diego Comic Con for a day of geek festivities. Marvel made a huge impact with their presentation which revealed the cast of Black Panther, footage from Spider-Man: HomecomingDoctor Strange, and to the surprise of everyone in attendance, Thor: Ragnarok.

Despite the fact that they were only days into filming for the movie, Marvel Studios brought a hilarious mockumentary and sizzle reel of concept art and pre-visualization footage, that has already been created for the upcoming sequel. The sizzle reel had countless Easter eggs including allusions to “Planet Hulk,” Hela, a shaved Thor, and Fire Lord Surtur, among other memorable images. However, the piece of footage that undoubtedly got the biggest laughs was the mockumentary by director Taika Waititi (The Hunt for the Wilderpeople).

The video focuses on what Thor (Chris Hemsworth) was up to during the events of Captain America: Civil War. Marvel intentionally kept two of their biggest power hitters, Thor and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) out of the film, in an effort to keep the battle as even and grounded as possible. The result is an intergalactic buddy film with Thor: Ragnarok, featuring the two characters. In this new video we get the best sense of the duo’s chemistry since they first battled in The Avengers. While it’s hard to imagine that the movie will have the same overabundance of comedy, Waiti is known for his humor and it certainly shines through in the latest video. There is a lot to look forward to with Thor: Ragnarok and this is only the beginning of the fun. Enjoy!

Thor: Ragnarok releases on November 3rd, 2017.
