Peter Parker is set to return to theaters in a big way next year with Spider-Man: Homecoming. While the feature film is expected to be a blockbuster at the box-office, it’s only the tip of the iceberg for a reinvigorated multimedia push for the character in the near future. In addition, there are multiple spin-offs in the works and even an animated movie that will star Miles Morales as the next Spider-Man.
In addition to all of the plans on the big-screen for the character, there will also be a presence on the small screen with the new cartoon, Marvel’s Spider-Man, that’s coming to Disney XD later this year. It’s already known that Peter Parker’s origin will be skimmed over in Spider-Man: Homecoming, however there’s a whole new generation of children that don’t know how Spider-Man came to be. In anticipation of the Fall debut of the new show, Marvel will be releasing a six-part preview that details the hero’s modern origin story.
The new cartoon seems to be heavily influenced by both the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, as well as the Marvel cinematic universe’s incarnation. Spider-Man starring in his own animated programming goes back to the 1960’s, so it’s almost a rite of passage for kids to get an introduction to the superhero through the medium. In previous previews, the show seems to have a blend of both traditional and new wave animation techniques, while managing to keep the spirit of the Marvel character intact. We will bring you the following episodes as they are made available, but for now…enjoy!
Marvel’s Spider-Man premieres on Disney XD on August 1st, 2017.
