This month is so jam-packed with big movie releases that even a film starring Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds and Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal has gone under the radar. So, it looks like you will have to take yet another trip down to your local cineplex to watch another new flick this month. Life is cruel sometimes…
Life is directed by Daniel Espinosa, who was responsible for one of Reynolds’ biggest pre-Deadpool hits, Safe House. It was also written by Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, so it seems that it’s indeed a reunion of sorts…in space. Along with Gyllenhaal and Reynolds, the movie also stars Rebecca Fergusson who blazed onto the screen in 2015’s Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, so it would seem that the movie has all the ingredients to be a sleeper hit.
The space thriller is about a small group of astronauts who are tasked with investigating and studying the first signs of life on Mars. In true science-fiction horror fashion, the seemingly simple-celled life form is more advanced, and deadly, than anyone was anticipating. Check out the trailer.
Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.
Life opens in theaters on March 24th, 2017.
