Over the course of a few short years Fox Studios has managed to cultivate their R-rated library of films and deliver a string of genre hits aimed at adult audiences. Kingsman: The Secret Service, Deadpool, and the upcoming Logan are all properties that have expanded audience’s expectations. However, they certainly aren’t afraid to pull from the past either, as Ridley Scott is currently putting his finishing touches on his return to the Alien franchise with Alien: Covenant.
The upcoming movie continues the story that began with Prometheus and that will one day end with 1979’s Alien. Alien: Covenant features an eclectic cast including Katherine Waterson, Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, and Danny McBride. They are the crew of a ship looking to colonize a new planet and unfortunately are the first to come in contact with xenomorphs and face-huggers.
This second trailer gives us a full look at the story and the approach that Scott is taking for the franchise. We also get a full body shot of a xenomorph, as well as several hero poses from the main cast. The movie’s release is still six months away, but this should hold you over until then. Enjoy the trailer!
“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
Alien: Covenant opens on May 19th, 2017.
