DC Films has been making headlines recently for a lot of the wrong reasons. They lost the director for the feature film version of The Flash, after Rick Famuyiwa decided to leave the project last year. Then Ben Affleck left the director’s chair for The Batman, which has led to Matt Reeves getting the gig to film the Caped Crusader’s next adventure. However, the effects of those moves could be disastrous if Zack Snyder’s Justice League bombs this winter.
The much anticipated sequel to last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters this November and the careers of multiple people hang delicately in the balance. It has been widely reported that the tone of Justice League was altered after the mixed critical reception of BvS, which led to a sequel that’s described as “more fun.”
We will have to wait until November to see if the effort has paid off. However in the meantime, Snyder provided fans with a behind the scenes update, while the film is currently being color corrected. In the new still, we see Batman crashing down on some unfortunate victims in a darkened warehouse. It’s unclear who the bad guys are in the photo. They seem to look like a version of Darkseid’s Parademons, however they look much different than what was glimpsed during Bruce Wayne’s Knightmare sequence in BvS. Perhaps, they have gone in a different direction with the character design and the Parademons that we saw BvS were from an alternate future.
Over the past few weeks, the production has released new promotional photos, plot details, and character breakdowns, that seem to signal that a new trailer is on the horizon. While fans got their first look via the sizzle reel made for last year’s San Diego Comic Con, a full trailer for the superhero movie has yet to materialize. Hopefully, this is only the beginning of positive developments for the Justice League.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League opens on November 17th, 2017.
